NCAA Basketball Odds: North Carolina State Wolfpack vs Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

by Mike Stewart
Coach Mark Gottfried’s first season in Raleigh has been a revelation, and North Carolina State Wolfpack enters the home stretch with a legitimate shot at an NCAA bid. But the biggest blemish on its resume is an 11-point home loss to Georgia Tech. N.C. State, which ranks 57th in the RPI, will try to avenge that defeat against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, who just snapped a six-game skid. Georgia Tech beat Boston College 51-47 on Saturday for its first win at Philips Arena this season. The Jackets are using the NBA arena while their on-campus facility is built.

The Wolfpack have opened as 4-point favorites on SBG Global Sportsbook’s Live NCAA Basketball Odds.
North Carolina State Wolfpack (17-7): All five starters average at least 11.6 points, with forward C.J. Leslie having raised his average from 4.7 last season to 12.1. Lorenzo Brown is one of the top all-around point guards in the nation. He ranks second in the ACC in assists (6.8) and steals (1.8) while also scoring 11.9 points per game. The Wolfpack are aiming for their best ACC mark after 10 games since 2005-06, when they started 8-2.
Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (9-14): Junior swingman Glen Rice Jr., who is dealing with a toe injury, has benefitted from the five-day layoff. He leads the Yellow Jackets in scoring (13.0) and rebounding (6.6) and poured in 22 points in the Jan. 11 win in Raleigh. When Georgia Tech gets contributions from big men Daniel Miller and Kammeon Holsey, it is much harder to defend. Each scored 10 against Boston College, the first time both reached double figures since the Dec. 7 win at Georgia. Georgia Tech has won three of the last against N.C. State.
1. A win would give Georgia Tech its first regular-season sweep of N.C. State since 1996. The Jackets are 22-14 at home against the Wolfpack.
2. N.C. State’s Scott Wood has made all 53 of his free throws this season, the fourth-longest streak in Division I history. He is 21 away from tying the NCAA mark.
3. After Thursday, the Wolfpack will face the ACC’s top three teams in a six-day span.
