The Hurricanes have opened as 6.5-point favorites on SBG Global Sportsbook’s Live NCAA Basketball Odds.
Virginia Tech Hokies (13-10): Highly regarded recruit Dorian Finney-Smith broke out of a prolonged shooting slump with 12 points against Clemson. Finney-Smith was 0 for 25 from the field in the previous six games and 6 for 46 over a 10-game span. The Hokies can depend on guard Erick Green, averaging a team-high 15.7 points, to produce. Green has scored in double figures in his last 24 games, the longest active streak in the ACC. Jarell Eddie, who had 15 points against Clemson, is shooting 45.3 percent from 3-point range.
Miami (FL) Hurricanes (14-7): The Hurricanes have won four straight ACC games for the first time since 2008. Junior guard Durand Scott has also been a major factor averaging 18 points the last three games. Scott leads four players scoring in double figures at 13.1. Malcolm Grant, Kenny Kadji and Johnson join Scott. Grant is shooting 35 percent from the field, Johnson 52.0 and Kadji 48.6. The Hurricanes, ranked 37th in the RPI, have won nine of 11 games at home and play five of the last eight contests in Coral Gables, Fla.
1. A victory for Miami would match its most at the midway point of an ACC season. The Hurricanes were 6-2 in 2005-06, when there was a 16-game conference schedule
2. Virginia Tech has lost six games by four points or less – five in league play.
3. Grant needs one 3-pointer for 200 at Miami and Scott one assist for 300 in his career.
